Scat Identifier is an independent, AI-assisted photo tool. Use our AI scat identifier to explore possible animals behind droppings. Add habitat, region, and size for educational wildlife-tracking suggestions. We are not affiliated with the makers of any referenced brands or professional certification bodies.
How an analysis is made
After you sign in, your image and optional notes are sent from our server to OpenAI. GPT-6 Luna, with low reasoning effort, returns a structured explanation tailored to this tool. There is no human expert review of an individual result.
What confidence means
Low, medium, or high confidence is the AI’s qualitative assessment, not a measured accuracy rate or calibrated probability. Similar subjects, lighting, image quality, and missing details can change the suggestion.
What to do with a result
Educational wildlife clues only. Do not handle or smell droppings. A photo cannot establish species certainty or biological safety.
Free accounts and allowances
Each account has a daily allowance, initially three successful analyses per day. It resets at midnight UTC. Additional limits protect the service from automated abuse. Failed analyses and unsuitable images do not use the account allowance. Accounts are separate on each website.
